Determine Your Strengths
If you're feeling a bit lost about the path you should be headed in life, take some time to determine your strengths and skills. Determining your strengths and skills will help you to develop a picture about yourself and can lead you to discover your path.
Here are some questions that can help you find your strengths. Do you hear the same compliments over and over? Listen to family and friends around you. Do they tell you all the time that you take the best photos? Maybe they always remark on how well-organized you keep your room. If you hear comments about yourself over and over they just might mean something. Sometimes other people can see your skills more easily than you can. Listen to what others feel are your strengths. You may catch a clue about what raw skills you possess. Take everything with a grain of salt, though. If someone keeps commenting on your lack of abilities, do not take that for fact. You know what you can do. Don’t let others discourage you. Do you notice certain traits about yourself? In your group of friends, are you the one who calls everyone and informs them of the Friday night plans? Do you always figure out the check when you go out on a group dinner? Listen to your actions on a daily basis. If you are the organizer of the group then you'll find that you enjoy leadership roles. If you like to figure out the check and calculate tip, then you may like to work with numbers. Find the traits that come out on a daily basis. Think about why you might enjoy these traits and how you can develop them into other areas of your life. Do you have a hobby that you love? Do you like to sketch and paint in your spare time? Do you like to shop for clothing and put together outfits? Do you like to figure out the household budget? If you find yourself doing the same things in your spare time then think about what you like about your hobbies. What makes you keep doing it over and over? You’ll find that your hobbies are something that you do well since you keep going back to it over and over. You are motivated to learn and become better at your hobbies. If you have such a strong interest in your hobbies, figure out why you enjoy them. This will help you draw conclusions about your skills and interests. Determining your strengths is the first step to discovering your path. Be honest in your inquiry and you will find your direction.
